Broncos coach Sean Payton said last week that Dobbins was "a priority ahead of all others" this offseason, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. Payton went on to describe Dobbins as a "compound multiplier" who "brings 10 others along with him in positive light." The glowing comments came three weeks after Denver re-signed Dobbins to a two-year, $16 million contract. It's essentially a one-year deal, with $8 million guaranteed this year and then a team option for around $8 million in 2027. Broncos GM George Paton said last week that Dobbins has made a full recovery from his season-ending foot injury, noting that the RB might've even played in the Super Bowl if Denver had made it, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports. Dobbins and RJ Harvey figure to get most of the first-team backfield reps this spring, with Dobbins the current favorite to start Week 1.
Broncos owner Greg Penner said Monday that Nix is "ahead of schedule" in his recovery from right ankle surgery, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports. Penner said in January that he had "zero concern" about Nix's recovery from a bone break in his right ankle, and the team owner echoed those comments Monday. "He's attacked his recovery in the same way that he attacks preparing for games and has just done a terrific job," Penner said of Nix. "He's ahead of schedule. No concerns at all for OTAs and go forward from there." Denver coach Sean Payton stated in February that he expects Broncos OTAs to start June 1, and Nix is trending toward being ready to participate by that date.
Waddle agreed to terms Tuesday on a restructured contract with the Broncos that converts $15.4 million of his 2026 option bonus into a signing bonus, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Waddle's restructure opens up cap space for Denver, providing more flexibility for the team to maneuver in free agency and head of April's draft. The Broncos acquired Waddle's services in a trade with Miami on March 17, sending away the No. 30 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, in addition to a third-round pick and a swap of fourth-round selections. The 27-year-old wideout's explosiveness and athleticism make it easy to project an effective 1-2 punch alongside Courtland Sutton, whose 6-foot-4, 216-pound frame brings a more physical style of play. He and Sutton project as the clear top targets for Bo Nix in 2026, and head coach Sean Payton has praised Waddle's "grit" and "high, high [competitiveness]," as Andrew Mason of 104.3 The Fan reports.
Anderson agreed to a deal with the Broncos on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The fifth-round pick of the Bengals in 2022 has seen a grand total of 64 defensive snaps in his NFL career, though he has become a consistent special-teams player, seeing over 300 snaps in that role in each of the last two seasons. Anderson could compete for a depth safety and special-teams role in Denver, too.
The Broncos have officially announced their trade with the Dolphins for Jaylen Waddle, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports, a move that bolsters the team's wideout corps, which Sutton led last season. In 17 regular-season games in 2025, Sutton parlayed his team-leading 124 targets into a 74-1,017-7 receiving line, with Troy Franklin next in line in terms of targets with 104. The addition of Waddle -- a 2021 first-rounder -- gives Denver a dynamic playmaker to pair with Sutton, providing the team with a strong 1-2 punch at wideout, supplemented by Franklin, Pat Bryant and Marvin Mims, with Lil'Jordan Humphrey along with Michael Bandy rounding out the current WR depth chart. As the 2026 campaign approaches, Sutton isn't necessarily the Broncos' clear-cut top option at the position, a standing that Waddle has the upside to claim should he mesh well with franchise QB Bo Nix.
The Broncos are trading the No. 30 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft as well as third- and fourth-round picks in exchange for Waddle (ribs) and a fourth-round pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Waddle has a chance to become the new No. 1 wide receiver for Bo Nix, joining a position group that includes Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin (hamstring), Pat Bryant (hamstring) and Marvin Mims. A 2021 first-round pick, Waddle boasts an ideal skill set for head coach Sean Payton's offensive scheme and surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in three straight seasons to begin his NFL career. In his two most recent seasons, Waddle has only produced 58-744-2 and 64-910-6 lines, but injuries and quarterback issues help explain his struggles. Waddle's fantasy stock gets a considerable boost for 2026, and there have been no signs that the rib injury that held him out for Miami's Week 18 finale will impede his offseason activities.
McMillian signed his one-year, $5.767 million restricted free agent tender Friday. It represents a significant raise for McMillian, who made $1.03 million in 2025. The 25-year-old cornerback joined the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and has carved out a prominent role in Denver's secondary. He appeared in all 17 regular-season games last season, making three starts, and recorded 56 tackles (40 solo), including a career-high 4.0 sacks, nine pass breakups, including two interceptions, and a pair of forced fumbles. He's the team's No. 1 slot corner.
