Morris earned his second save of the season in Friday's 9-8 win over the Cardinals after pitching a perfect ninth inning. He didn't record a strikeout. Yoendrys Gomez has recorded three of the Twins' prior four saves, but it was Morris who pitched the ninth inning Friday and got the job done on just nine pitches (six strikes). It was Morris' second save of the season, and he also snapped a run of three straight outings allowing at least one run.

Andrew Morris: Breaking News
Starting bullpen game
Morris will start a bullpen game for the Twins on Thursday versus the White Sox, Bobby Nightengale of The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports. Morris made two starts at Triple-A St. Paul to begin this season and stayed relatively stretched out as a long reliever initially upon being recalled by the Twins. However, he's been shortened up and used in more high-leverage spots over the last few weeks. Morris hasn't gone more than 1.1 innings or thrown more than 32 pitches in any of his last 11 appearances, and he will be going on just one day of rest after throwing two-thirds of an inning in Tuesday's contest. The Twins could call someone up to serve in a bulk relief role Thursday, but for now, it looks like a true bullpen game.
Secures first career save
Morris struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his first career save in a 4-1 win over the Astros. The rookie right-hander tossed his hat into the ring for the vacant Twins closing job with an impressive effort, as he needed just 10 pitches (eight strikes) to dispatch the heart of Houston's order, including Yordan Alvarez and Christian Walker. Morris topped out at 97.4 mph with his fastball, and through 9.2 innings in May he's posted a 1.86 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 7:3 K:BB while also collecting a win and two holds in eight appearances.
