Braden Shewmake: Breaking News

Shewmake (groin) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. Shewmake exited Saturday's contest due to groin soreness and will sit for at least one game. Nick Allen is picking up a start at second base for Houston in the series finale.

Shewmake was removed from Saturday's game against the Brewers with right groin soreness. Shewmake went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before leaving the game in the fifth inning. The Astros may have more information regarding the 28-year-old's status after the game, though Nick Allen could be in line for reps at the keystone if Shewmake ends up needing to miss time.

Shewmake is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs. With southpaw Shota Imanaga on the bump for the Cubs, the left-handed-hitting Shewmake will retreat to the bench after going 0-for-5 with a walk and a run scored while starting the first two games of the series at second base. Brice Matthews will fill in for Shewmake at the keystone Sunday.
