Soriano (6-3) allowed six runs on one hit, six walks and one hit batsman while striking out six over 5.1 innings to take the loss Saturday versus the Dodgers. On one hand, holding the Dodgers to a single hit is impressive, but they didn't often have to take the bat off their shoulders. Soriano landed just 48 of 92 pitches for strikes, though he racked up 16 whiffs on 36 swings. It was the freebies that ultimately ruined the outing, particularly in the sixth inning -- of the last five batters he faced, he walked four and plunked one. That forced in two runs, and Chase Silseth allowed all three inherited runners to score as well. The six runs allowed were a season high for Soriano, though he still has a 2.41 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP and 67:26 K:BB through 59.2 innings over 10 starts. He's allowed 12 runs over 17 innings in May, so the early magic looks to be wearing off. Soriano is lined up for a home start against the Athletics in his next outing.

José Soriano: Breaking News
Dominates Toronto
Soriano (6-2) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out seven across 7.2 innings. Soriano yielded an RBI double to Kazuma Okamoto in the first inning, but that ended up being the only run allowed by the veteran right-hander. Following Okamoto's double, Soriano retired the next 20 batters he faced, a streak that was broken by a Myles Straw infield single in the eighth. It was the fifth quality start of the season for Soriano and his first since April 12 against the Reds. It was the bounce-back performance he needed after giving up eight earned runs over his last two starts, and he now sits at a 1.66 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 61:20 K:BB across 54.1 innings this season. Soriano's next start is tentatively slated for this weekend at home against the Dodgers.
Roughed up for first time in 2026
Soriano (5-2) took the loss against the White Sox on Monday, allowing five runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out five batters over four innings. Soriano got off to a blazing start to the season -- in fact, he was recently recognized as the AL Pitcher of the Month for April. However, the right-hander couldn't sustain that success against the White Sox in his first real stumble of the campaign. Soriano gave up two runs in the first inning, then served up a pair of homers accounting for three total runs in the fourth. He ended up finishing just four frames, marking his shortest start of the season, while the five runs he surrendered were a campaign-worst mark. Soriano got through his first six starts spanning 37.2 frames having allowed just one homer, but he's now given up four long balls over his past two starts. He still carries a sterling 1.74 ERA overall, and he'll look to get back on track the next time he takes the mound, which is projected to be a road start in Toronto.
