Rojas didn't factor into the decision Monday against the Astros, allowing two hits and one walk with three strikeouts across four scoreless innings. Minnesota slotted Rojas into the rotation in place of a struggling Simeon Woods Richardson, and the 23-year-old left-hander displayed plus stuff, generating 10 whiffs on 46 total pitches and averaged 96.0 mph with his fastball. The rookie should get another turn through the rotation after his strong showing Monday. Through his first 11.1 innings this season, Rojas owns a 1.59 ERA and 11:9 K:BB.

Kendry Rojas: Breaking News
Making first MLB start Monday
Rojas is slated to start Monday's game against the Astros at Target Field, Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports. The Twins will slot Rojas into the rotation spot that belonged to Simeon Woods Richardson, who may have been moved to the bullpen after logging a 7.71 ERA and 1.86 WHIP over his first nine starts of 2026. Rojas has worked as a starter for most of his minor-league career but made all but one of his five appearances for Triple-A St. Paul out of the bullpen this season before being called back up to the majors earlier this month. Since Rojas hasn't covered more than 3.1 innings in an appearance at any level this season and will be pitching Monday on three days' rest, he likely won't be asked to cover the five innings he would need to hit to qualify for a win. Minnesota could end up turning to Woods Richardson for multiple innings out of the bullpen once Rojas exits the game.
Earns win in bulk-relief role
Rojas (1-0) was credited with the win during Sunday's game against the Guardians. He allowed one run on five hits and three walks while striking out five across 3.1 innings. Rojas entered Sunday's game in the second inning after Andrew Morris logged a scoreless first frame on just six pitches. Rojas was able to hold his own, tossing 34 strikes on 60 pitches while recording 11 first-pitch strikes, and it was enough for him to come away with the first major-league victory of his career. He was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul prior to Sunday's contest, but it's possible that Rojas sticks around with the big club in a bulk-relief role given the injuries to the Twins' rotation.
