Ryan Kreidler: Breaking News

Kreidler is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox. Kreidler will hit the bench following a stretch of five consecutive starts -- one in center field, four at shortstop -- during which he went 5-for-18 with a home run, a double and four RBI. Though the Twins plan to move Brooks Lee to third base on a full-time basis, Kreidler won't necessarily be in line for regular reps at shortstop. Tristan Gray was reinstated from the paternity list Monday and could end up filling the strong side of a platoon at shortstop with Kreidler. The Twins will go with Gray at shortstop Tuesday while right-hander Sean Burke toes the rubber for the White Sox.

Kreidler will start at shortstop and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Red Sox. Kreidler will draw a fourth straight start at shortstop after going 3-for-12 with a home run, a double, four RBI and an additional run scored over the previous four contests. His run as a lineup regular is likely to come to an end in short order, however, as Brooks Lee is expected to settle back in as the Twins' everyday third baseman when Tristan Gray (personal) returns from the paternity list Monday.

The Twins recalled Kreidler from Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Kreidler has gone 3-for-14 with two home runs and a 4:3 BB:K during his brief time with the big club this season. He will be used in a utility role in Minnesota.
