Thomas Edman: Everything you need to know

Edman has been backed off his rehab a bit after feeling residual soreness in his surgically repaired right ankle, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. The soreness isn't necessarily unexpected as Edman ramps up his rehab, but it will delay him a bit. The Dodgers have not revealed a timetable for Edman's season debut, but it now seems unlikely that he will make it back before the end of May.

Edman (ankle) has been facing live pitching but is still doing only straight-line running, per MLB.com. Edman continues to rehab from the right ankle surgery he underwent last November. The utility man began taking live at-bats in mid-April and has continued to do so, but the organization is having him build up his running progression slowly. Edman isn't likely to be activated from the injured list until at least late May.

Edman (ankle) took live at-bats against Blake Snell (shoulder) on Saturday, per MLB.com. The session marked the first time Edman has faced live pitching since last season. The utility man is also continuing to ramp up his running progression, but he still seems to be several weeks away from a potential minor-league rehab assignment. Edman is unlikely to be activated off the IL until at least late May.
