Thomas Nance: Breaking News

Nance (forearm) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. Nance was cleared to begin throwing off a mound Thursday, and he seems to be making considerable progress in his recovery given that he's now facing live hitters. He's scheduled to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, and a return from the injured list may come shortly thereafter.

Manager John Schneider believes that it's a "best case" scenario for Nance's forearm, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. Nance can begin throwing again later in the week to work through his right forearm discomfort. The right-hander has been a solid piece for the Toronto bullpen with a 1.99 ERA in 30 appearances during 2025 and a 3.86 across 20 appearances in 2026.

The Blue Jays placed Nance on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right forearm discomfort. Nance tossed a clean inning with one strikeout Saturday versus Detroit, but he appears to have come away from that outing with a sore forearm. The right-hander has been working primarily in low-leverage situations for Toronto, notching one hold while posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 25:8 K:BB over 21 innings spanning 20 appearances. Lefty reliever Adam Macko was called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday to take Nance's spot in the big-league bullpen.
