Brooks agreed to terms Wednesday on a two-year, $4.85 million contract extension with the Packers, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. Brooks operated as Green Bay's clear No. 3 running back across 17 regular-season appearances in 2025, logging 27 carries for 106 yards and 13 catches for 91 yards (17 targets) behind Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Wilson. Jacobs remains under contract with the team and positioned for a workhorse role, while Wilson isn't expected to be tendered ahead of free agency. Pending further additions to the backfield, that leaves Brooks in position to potentially compete with 2024 third-rounder MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring), who spent all of 2025 on IR, for the No. 2 role behind Jacobs.

With 2024 third-rounder MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) spending the entire season on injured reserve, Brooks stepped up as the Packers' third option out of the backfield behind Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Wilson. Brooks split his snaps fairly evenly across offense and special teams but took on more offensive responsibilities in Weeks 12 and 18 (both times against the Vikings) when Jacobs was sidelined, with the former accumulating 19 carries for 82 yards and one catch for five yards over those two games. Brooks enters the offseason as a restricted free agent and could be tendered by the Packers.

Brooks carries the ball 13 times for 61 yards in Sunday's 16-3 loss to the Vikings. The No. 3 running back on the Green Bay depth chart saw his most extensive action of the season as the team rested Josh Jacobs (knee/ankle) ahead of the playoffs, and Brooks wound up leading the Packers in rushing yards despite seeing less volume than Emanuel Wilson. Brooks came into the game with just 14 carries for 45 yards on the season, so he's unlikely to make any kind of impact in the wild-card round.
