The Commanders signed Tunsil (oblique) to a two-year, $60.2 million contract extension Monday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports. Tunsil's deal reportedly includes $32.5 million in a signing bonus and keeps the veteran left tackle under contract to defend the blindside of Jayden Daniels (elbow) until 2028. An oblique injury prevented Tunsil from suiting up for the final three games of the regular season, but he's expected to be fully healthy in time for OTAs.
Tunsil (oblique) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Tashan Reed of The Washington Post reports. The veteran offensive lineman will end up missing the final three games of the regular season due to an oblique issue, so Brandon Coleman is in line to once again start at left tackle for Sunday's NFC East tilt. Tunsil started in each of the Commanders' 14 regular-season games prior to his injury.
Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Wednesday that Tunsil (oblique) is a "long shot" to play in Sunday's matchup against the Eagles, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. The 31-year-old has missed each of the Commanders' last two games due to an oblique injury, and it now appears the issue will likely sideline him for the Week 18 divisional matchup as well. If Tunsil is out as expected Sunday, Brandon Coleman will likely operate as Washington's top left tackle.
