LaPorta brought in all four targets for 53 yards in the Lions' 42-29 win over the Seahawks on Monday night. LaPorta finished second in both receptions and receiving yards on the night, with the latter total also serving as a season high. The second-year tight end's catch tally also tied the total he'd recorded against the Rams in Week 1, but he still remains well below the pace he set during a spectacular 2023 rookie season. LaPorta has topped out at five targets (Week 1) as far as a single-game high this season, but he could be poised for more opportunities against an inconsistent Cowboys defense in a Week 6 road battle on Sunday, Oct. 13 following a Week 5 bye.
St. Brown secured all six targets for 45 yards and a touchdown and also threw a seven-yard touchdown on his only pass attempt in the Lions' 42-29 win over the Seahawks on Monday night. St. Brown recorded a team-high number of catches and his second receiving touchdown of the campaign on an eight-yard grab in the fourth quarter. However, his most eye-catching moment of the night came in the unusual role of quarterback, as he threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Jared Goff on the Lions' version of the Philly Special just past the midway point of the third quarter. St. Brown now has at least six receptions in three straight games, and when he returns to action against the Cowboys on the road Sunday, Oct. 13 following a Week 5 bye, he'll be striving to reverse a two-game trend of dwindling receiving yardage totals.
Goff completed 18 of 18 pass attempts for 292 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, caught a seven-yard touchdown pass on his only target and rushed twice for minus-2 yards in the Lions' 42-29 win over the Seahawks on Monday night. Per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Goff became the first quarterback in NFL history to finish a game with a perfect completion percentage on more than 10 attempts and with over 200 passing yards, underscoring how locked in he was during the wild win. The touchdown grab on a Motor City version of the famed Philly Special was an added bonus, with Goff on the receiving end of an Amon-Ra St. Brown pass just past the midway point of the third quarter. Goff also connected with St. Brown for an eight-yard touchdown toss, but the biggest play of his night was a 70-yard scoring strike to Jameson Williams late in the third quarter that extended a 28-20 lead. Goff now has back-to-back two-touchdown-pass tallies heading into a Week 5 bye, and he should be in store for another busy day when Detroit returns to action on the road against the Cowboys on Sunday, Oct. 13.
Montgomery rushed 12 times for 40 yards and a touchdown and brought in his only target for a 40-yard reception in the Lions' 42-29 win over the Seahawks on Monday night. Montgomery saw backfield mate Jahmyr Gibbs receive a pair of rushing opportunities from inside the five-yard line that he parlayed into short touchdowns. However, those were preceded by Montgomery's own one-yard scoring rush in the first quarter that served as the first points of the night for either squad. He also contributed a career-long reception on the Lions' first play from scrimmage in the second half, igniting a drive that culminated in an Amon-Ra St. Brown touchdown pass to Jared Goff. Montgomery has recorded a rushing touchdown in each of the first four games of the season, and although he saw Gibbs log two more carries than him Monday night, the former should continue in a dependable role in a Week 6 road showdown with the Cowboys following a Week 5 bye.
Gibbs rushed 14 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns and wasn't targeted in the Lions' 42-29 win over the Seahawks on Monday night. Although the lack of work in the passing game was less than ideal, Gibbs' fantasy managers had to be elated with seeing the talented back get two opportunities from inside the five-yard line that culminated in touchdowns, considering how often he's frequently passed over for David Montgomery in such scenarios. Gibbs went in from three yards and one yard out in the second quarter, his first trips to the end zone on the ground since Week 1. He's yet to crack the 100-yard threshold this season, but he's now on an impressive three-game run of efficient work on the ground that's seen him amass 245 yards on 43 carries. Gibbs now gets a chance for some early-season rest via a Week 5 bye before returning to action on the road Sunday, Oct. 13 against a short-handed Cowboys defense that's struggled to stop the run.
Rakestraw (hamstring) is active for Monday's contest against the Seahawks. Rakestraw will make his return to the field after missing the team's last two contests. The 22-year-old will be back in his role as a depth option at cornerback behind Carlton Davis and Terrion Arnold versus Seattle.
Branch (illness) is inactive for Monday's game against the Seahawks. The safety suffered a concussion during the Lions' Week 3 win over the Cardinals but was off the injury report by Saturday. However, he was downgraded to doubtful Sunday due to the illness. Brandon Joseph should be in line to play in his place.
