Free agency is officially here!

The New England Patriots had an impressive 2025 season, but if they want to get back on top, they are going to need to address numerous positions of need, and that will start on Monday when the NFL’s legal tampering period of free agency starts at noon ET.

Teams can officially start negotiations with free agents, but official transactions won’t become official until the start of the league year at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11.

According to  OverTheCap, the Patriots have just over $43 million available in cap space.

March 11  – The New England Patriots agreed to terms with S Mike Brown, per Ian Rapoport. 


Patriots Sign TE Julian Hill

March 11  – The New England Patriots agreed to terms with TE Julian Hill, per Ian Rapoport. 


Patriots Did Not Tender 6 Players

March 11  – Along with Jack Gibbens, the Patriots did not tender Alex Austin, Yasir Durant, Jaquelin Roy, Isaiah Iton and Deneric Prince, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels.


Patriots Did Not Tender LB Jack Gibbens

March 11  – The New England Patriots did not tender linebacker Jack Gibbens as a restricted free agent, making him an an unrestricted free agent now that the new league year has begun, per The Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed.


Ravens Sign S Jaylinn Hawkins

March 11  – The Baltimore Ravens signed former New England Patriots safety Jaylinn Hawkins to a two-year deal, per Adam Schefter. 


Patriots Sign S Kevin Byard

March 11  – The New England Patriots have signed three-time Pro Bowl safety Kevin Byard on a one-year, $9 million deal, per Tom Pelissero.


Patriots Sign LB KJ Britt

March 11 (11:58 a.m.) – The New England Patriots are signing linebacker KJ Britt on a one-year deal, per Adam Schefter.


Patriots Releasing LB Anfernee Jennings

March 11 (8:53 a.m.) – The New England Patriots are releasing linebacker Anfernee Jennings, who was in the final year of his contract and carried a salary cap charge of $4.86 million, per ESPN.


Commanders Sign ED K’Lavon Chaisson

March 11 (8:47 a.m.) – The Washington Commanders are signing former New England Patriots edge K’Lavon Chaisson to a one-year deal worth $12 million, per Ian Rapoport.


Commanders Interested In LB K’Lavon Chaisson

March 10 – After signing Odafe Oweh (4 yrs, $100M), the Washington COmmanders are still looking for more help at pass rush and a “name that comes up often for them in league circles: K’Lavon Chaisson,” per Jeremy Fowler.

Patriots Checking In On Veteran Guards

March 9 – The New England Patriots have been checking in on veteran guards during the first day of the legal tampering period, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels. They showed interest in Isaac Seumalo, who ultimately signed with the Cardinals.

March 9 – The Arizona Cardinals are signing guard Isaac Seumalo to a three year deal worth $31.5 million, per Jeremy Fowler.


Seahawks Re-Sign WR Rashid Shaheed

March 9 (6:23 p.m.) – The Seattle Seahawks are re-signing WR Rashid Shaheed on a three-year, $51 million deal that includes $34.7 million guaranteed, per Adam Schefter.


Jaguars Entertaining Offers For WR Brian Thomas Jr.

March 9 – The Jacksonville Jaguars are entertaining offers for wide receiver Brian Thomas, SNYtv’s Connor Hughes reports.


Were The Patriots Interested In Mike Evans?

March 9 – The New England Patriots were never in on wide receiver Mike Evans, who ultimately signed a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, per the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan.


49ers Sign OT Vederian Lowe

March 9 (4:18 p.m.) – The San Francisco 49ers are signing former New England Patriots offensive tackle Vederian Lowe, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Ian Rapoport adds that it’s a two-year, $12M max contract with $5.75 million guaranteed.


Charges Against DT Christian Barmore Dropped

March 9 (3:34 p.m.) – The charges against New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore have been dropped as prosecutors told the judge that the case is no longer viable, per 7News’ Steve Cooper.


Patriots Have Shown Interest In WR Romeo Doubs

March 9 (2:42 p.m.) – The New Engalnd Patriots have shown interest in free agent wide receiver Romeo Doubs, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels.


49ers Sign WR Mike Evans

March 9 (2:30 p.m.) – Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers singing a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.


Patriots Were Interested In WR Jalen Nailor

The New England Patriots were interested in wide receiver Jalen Nailor, who ultimately signed a three-year deal worth up to $35 million, which includes $23 million guaranteed, per The Boston Sports Journal’s Mike Giardi.


Chiefs Sign DL Khyiris Tonga

Former Patriots DL Khyiris Tonga is signing with the Chiefs on a three-year, $21 million deal that includes $14M guaranteed, per Tom Pelissero.


Patriots Sign FB Reggie Gilliam

March 9 (1:16 p.m.) – The New England Patriots have signed fullback Reggie Gilliam on a three-year deal worth up to $12 million with $6 million fully guaranteed, per Mike Garafolo.

Jaelan Phillips Signs With Carolina Panthers

March 9 –  The Carolina Panthers have signed edge rusher Jaelan Phillips on a 4 year, 120M deal with $80M in guarantees, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.


Buccaneers Re-Sign TE Cade Otton

March 9 (12:30 p.m.) – Tight end Cade Otton, who was also considering a potential target for the Patriots, has re-signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. 


Patriots Sign DL Dre’Mont Jones

March 9 (12:08 p.m.) – The New England Patriots have signed Ravens DE Dre’Mont Jones, per The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.

The Ravens did try to retain him.


Patriots Were In On Alec Pierce

March 9 (12:07 p.m.) – The New England Patriots were in on WR Alec Pierce, but were not willing to meet the price tag, per The Athletic’s Jeff Howe.

March 9 (11:25 a.m.) – The New England Patriots have tendered exclusive-rights free-agent FB/TE Jack Westover, per The Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed.


Patriots Release Jahlani Tavai

March 9 (11 a.m.) – Patriots release LB Jahlani Tavai, per Albert Breer.


Patriots Trade Garrett Bradbury To The Bears

March 6 – Patriots trade C Garrett Bradbury to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.
