Wisconsin Recount Day 6 Update: It’s Basically a Wash so Far

The Wisconsin recount has hit the day 6 halfway point, and, after six days of counting, Hillary Clinton has now gained a net total of a couple votes.

That means the recount by Day 6 has brought the election totals back to almost exactly where they were before, for the two major party candidates.

(Update: You can now read the Election Commission’s official day 7 tallies here; they also show that Trump overall has retained his lead in Wisconsin.)

Overall, since the $3.5 million recount started, Trump has lost more votes than Clinton (slightly), but he’s also gained more (slightly).

None of it’s enough to even remotely alter the election so far; Trump won Wisconsin by more than 22,000 votes. Although a series of small errors have been found in many communities, they are not great in number. It’s all basically a wash so far. The errors have included such things as use of non-standard pens, ballots jamming, missing witness signatures, and a stack of ballots being missed on election day. Little had changed each day of the recount so far, although Trump had gained a net couple votes for a while.

The Wisconsin Election Commission is releasing totals for the recount daily on a spreadsheet, but the Commission does not tally up the numbers. Instead, the Commission presents them in raw form by municipality. Heavy has tallied up the lost and gained votes for both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump for each county. These are the most current numbers on the day 6 spreadsheet, as of the morning of December 7.

The totals show for day 6:

Trump has lost 429 votes
Trump has gained 568 votes
Clinton has lost 405 votes
Clinton has gained 546 votes

Trump has gained a net of 139 votes
Clinton has gained a net of 141 votes

Clinton has gained a net of 2 votes after 6 days. (Specific tallies are at the end of this article).

The City of Milwaukee tallies are not yet included because, even though the spreadsheet shows deficits for city wards, Milwaukee hasn’t counted absentee ballots yet so the deficits are misleading.

The recount was requested by Green Party nominee Jill Stein to the tune of $3.5 million. Stein also forced a recount in Michigan, which is now in its second day (in day 1, there were reports in Michigan of polling lists not reconciling with machine printouts of votes in Democratic strongholds that favored Clinton). However, a judge has now ruled that Stein does not have standing to pursue the Michigan recount, so it’s up in the air. Stein is suing to force a Pennsylvania recount, but time is running out. The Electoral College meets December 19. States like Wisconsin must complete their recounts by December 13; thus, Wisconsin is counting until the evening of December 12. Trump supporters have sued to stop the recount, but a judge has allowed it to go forward at least until the hearing.

The Election Commission reported these explanations from various counties about why some results had errors in them:

“Adams County: 9 absentee ballot envelopes rejected by recount canvass due to missing witness addresses. A drawdown was done resulting in a loss of 5 votes for Trump/Pence and a loss of 4 votes for Clinton/Kaine.

Total 28 vote change (8 vote net loss) in Town of Springville Wards 1-2 due to human error during original town Board of Canvass.

Dane County: 12 Absentee ballots were left in their certificate envelopes, unopened, on Election Night, for City of Monona Wards 6-10. Ballots were opened and canvassed by the board during the recount.

23 Absentee ballots were left in their certificate envelopes on Election Night for the City of Fitchburg Wards 1-4.

Eau Claire County: Increase of 11 votes in Town of Brunswick and 13 votes in Town of Seymour due to ballots marked incorrectly on Election Day.

Increase of 12 votes in City of Eau Claire Ward 30 from ballots that were uncounted on Election Night due to a paper jam.

Fond Du Lac County: 13 absentee envelopes were missing from Election Night and 1 absentee ballot counted on Election Night was rejected during recount canvassing of Town of Fond Du Lac Wards 1-8. A drawdown was done resulting in a loss of 7 votes for Trump/Pence and a loss of 7 votes for Clinton/Kaine.

Grant County: Village of Woodman and Village of Livingston removed from Day 4 results pending verification of recount numbers by Grant County Board of Canvass. Numbers are re-verified and have been added to the Day 6 results.

Kenosha County: Net change of 22 votes in Town of Somers Ward 2 due to discrepancy in original canvass numbers from Election Night. -1 for Trump/Pence, +3 for Castle/Bradley, +12 for Johnson/Weld, and +6 for Stein/Baraka.

Langlade County: Increase of 39 votes for Trump/Pence in Town of Rolling Wards 1-2 due to an addition discrepancy in Election Night reporting.

Manitowoc County: Increase of 24 votes in Town of Centerville due to a stack ballots missed on Election Day.

Marathon County: Adjustment to votes reported in the City of Abbotsford. No voters live in Ward 6 and all votes have been correctly added to Ward 1 totals. There is no change in the net number of votes; +7 votes to Ward 1 and -7 votes in Ward 6.

Decrease of 11 votes in Town of Stetin Wards 1-2 due to absentee envelopes rejected by recount canvass: 6 envelopes missing a witness signature and 5 envelopes missing a witness address. A drawdown was done resulting in a loss of 5 votes for Trump/Pence, a loss of 5 votes for Clinton/Kaine and loss of 1 vote for Johnson/Weld.

Menominee County: Increase in 29 votes in Town of Menominee Wards 1,3-5 due to human error; vote counts were left off of the Election Night tally sheet. +12 votes for Johnson/Weld and +17 votes for Stein/Baraka

Milwaukee County: Town of Hales Corners Wards 7-9 numbers have been corrected and now reflect accurate recount totals as of the Day 6 update.

Outagamie County: Addition of 1 vote to Day 5’s City of Appleton Ward 41 totals. A Ward 41 ballot was found with ballots for Ward 38 during the recount.

Ozaukee County: Increase of 29 votes in Village of Newburg Ward 3 due to a discrepancy in original canvass results for Trump/Pence numbers.

Racine County: Increase of 13 votes for Clinton/Kaine in City of Racine Ward 4. Votes were not counted on Election Night due to non-standard pens used to mark ballots.

Richland County: Town of Buena Vista Wads 1-3 removed from Day 6 results pending further verification of recount numbers by Richland County Board of Canvass.

Sheboygan County: Increase of 26 votes in City of Plymouth Wards 10-12. Votes were not counted on Election Night due to human error and voter intent was determined during recount.

Vernon County: Increase of 35 votes in City of Viroqua Wards 1-9 due to ballots not being read by the voting machine on Election Night. +9 for Trump/Pence, +22 for Clinton/Kaine, +1 for Castle/Bradley, +2 for Johnson/Weld, and +1 for Stein/Baraka.

Walworth County: Increase of 10 votes in Town of Whitewater Wards 1-2 due to ballot jams on Election Day.

Washburn County: Discrepancies in Town of Bashaw were due to an discrepancy in the previous certification. The total ballots for Trump/Pence should have been 385 instead of the 352 reported.

Waukesha County: Addition of 1 vote to Day 5’s Town of Delafield Wards 1,2,5,6 totals. Corrected to show 1 additional vote for Trump/Pence.”

    • If these liberal/progressives are about the validity of voting, why aren’t they targeting other states that are usually rife with fraud, like IL and NV?
Oh yeah, because the corrupt, lying democrats won those. My bad.

    • So now the cost is “only” $1,166,666.67 per vote. What was that expression again? Something about not throwing good money after bad….?

  2. So how is this going to play out? Milwaukee city ward absentee ballots won’t be counted until the end so they know the exact number the Dems need to cheat? WTF is the hold up getting those numbers in?

    • OK calm down teapig. I know you clowns have a very hard time comprehending all bu the simplest tasks. They will be counted LAST because they aren’t tallied at the precinct level- Does that help you more-on

      • calling people names does not help your cause it hurts if. Did you not learn anything form the 2016 election? You called all of the white working class racist look what happend Trump won the white working class and the election. But no keep labeling people see what happens You want to win dont label everyone a racist and Tegpig that does not help.

      • gopgoons – note from ky -come down here and call someone a teapig and you might be treated like ned in the deliverance movie

Apparently you do not understand the opportunity for fraud (vote manufacturing, etc.) that consolidating such a large number of ballots in one location, instead of being dispersed to their ward, presents.

      • Nice to see you can read, I also read the reason the numbers weren’t in at the same time as the reporting is because they were not tallied at the precinct level. THAT is not a reason for not getting the information in until the end, although I do understand COUNTING may problematic for you. As for the name calling, I’m always amazed at you keyboard warriors, so brave and outspoken and rude when you know no one can get to you. I would love to further this conversation in person. Let me know if we could work something out.

      • oh my… you’re hurting my feelings…I need a safe space, You’re driving me to a hot cocoa and marshmellows to make it through the night. Thank goodness I have a puppy to help me cope. My coloring book is so helpful as well….I color between the lines. You’re a conservativeaphobic….and .a teabagaphobic……Thank goodness I have the satisfaction that Trump WON…it feels so good.

        • Babs, you say being “conservaphobic” or a “teabagaphobic” as if it’s a bad thing! Go drown your sorrows in your hot chocolate! And while you’re at, why don’t you kick a few puppies too. I’m sure it’ll make you feel important.

          • Yup, Trump sure won the electoral college vote . . . but Hillary won the hearts and minds of the American people, as witnessed by her 2.5 million more votes than Trump. Go HRC!!

“Yup, Trump sure won the electoral college vote . . . but Hillary won the hearts and minds of the American people, as witnessed by her 2.5 million more votes than Trump.”

No she didn’t. There was no contest for the national populace vote. Citing such as though it existed is nothing more than desperation and philological therapy to avoid the dealing with the reality of losing.

Like losing a baseball game, then claiming your team won because they got more hits.
Like losing a football game, then claiming your team won because they got more yards.
Like losing a basketball game, then claiming your team won because they got more assists.

The criteria of the contest dictates the strategy contestants employ for winning. If the contest criteria is changed/different, the strategies employed by the contestants is also changed and all else does not remain the same.

If the criteria for winning the presidential election was national populace vote, the campaign strategies employed would have been very different. Resulting in a different national populace vote result as well.

              • No one said Hillary won the election . . . in fact, the writer confirmed that Trump won the electoral college “vote” . . . no one said Hillary won the “election” . . . winning the hearts and minds, as Hillary did just means more people wanted her to be President than Trump . . . that was all the writer said . . . to quote ole Will: “Me thinketh thee protestest too much>”

                • The writer based the winning of hearts and minds on national populace vote for which there was no campaign/contest. If there had been the national populace vote would have been different. But there wasn’t so that is nonsense to cite. To cite it is akin to claiming Hillary won a non existent contest for which there was no competitor.

                  Thou doth lack understanding.

            • She has a strong plurality of votes but 53 percent of the population, counting the third parties did vote against her…..if it makes you feel any better, about 53.5 per cent voted against Trump as well. Now grab your binky and drink your hot cocoa…if any gets on your thumb…you can suck it!

              • Michael, your math makes no sense . . . Hillary is already more than 2.6 million votes ahead in the popular vote, and her lead is only growing!

  3. This will all end either today or by Fri as too much fraud by the Democrats have been shown In MI and they want it to go away. She can’t win a recount vote in PA so with that this money raising farce is going to come to an end.

    • Why don’t all you Trump lovers just put ditto marks under the first Trump writer’s comment . . . save ya’ a bunch of time . . . each comment is an exact replica of the first.

“Wow, Nathan, what a cogent, deep-thinking comment! Obviously, you’re a Trump University graduate!”

Nathen’s assessment is concise and to the point. No need to waste any more words on it. No need to list specific attributes of a dog just to say hey that’s a dog.

      • Obviously, ‘asinineonymous’, you are an alumnus of nowhere.
Faced withTrump’s overwhelming victory- because the ‘popular vote’ means bupkis, the electiral college has always chosen the CE; and seeing theWisconsin recount confirm Trump’s win, Federal Appeals Court denies Stein’s claim of being ‘aggreived’ andfurther states ‘no evidence presented’ to support wild claims of’hacking’ in paper-ballot only Michigan- you revert back to the standard liberal content-free schoolyard slanging.
That has worked so well, hasn’t it?
        Carry on.

  4. This entire recount farrago is either (a), a Jill Stein publicity stunt/moneygrubbing scam or (b), a front operation for megalomaniac HRC’s wounded goddess complex.
Either way, a ridiculous display, and yet another nail in the coffin containing the corpse of ‘progressive’ credibility.

    • Why is Trump and his groupies all upset about recounts when he was ranting for weeks before the election that voter fraud would be rampant? Oh, guess it’s different when the shoe’s’ on the other foot. And god forbid, a woman have the temerity to challenge the white male status quo. Sorry, maybe making America great again might be music to you.r white ears, but to many in this country it’s just a huge step backwards . . . and while I believe and support non-violent change, those of us who refuse to go “backwards” will not be silenced.

      • Wow thou are so shallow thinker. Not going to explain this to you, beyond to say there was a strategy behind what Trump was doing. No benefit in educating the opposition.

By the way, when the fraud is perpetrated against the contestant that ends up winning anyway there is no point in recounts.
If Jill wants to find and root out fraud an investigation is the proper means for that. Not a “recount”. But we all know that wasn’t her real goal. Just a means to entice donors to raise money.

      • I’m happy for the recounts cause it just further proved that Trump dominated Hillary! Trump is better for the working class people/ middle class people that don’t want their taxes and premiums to go up to cover the lower third of people. Now this could be a step “backwards” for you or you could go out and make a success out of yourself like so many lazy people refuse to do and would rather sit around and bitch about it the next 4 years.
