Diaz said Monday that he's feeling "really good" following right elbow surgery and expressed confidence that he will be back to full strength in the second half of the season, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Diaz also explained that he's dealt with loose bodies in his elbow throughout most of his professional career but hadn't been affected by them until this season. The veteran closer underwent surgery to remove those loose bodies April 22 and stated Monday that he is "really surprised" that movement in his arm is "really good" so soon after the procedure. Diaz followed by saying he's "100 percent" confident that he'll be back at peak form in the second half of the campaign and shared that he wants to return to action "as soon as possible," though that isn't likely to happen until some time after the All-Star break.

Edwin Díaz: Breaking News
Undergoes elbow surgery Wednesday
Diaz shared on his personal Instagram account Wednesday that he underwent surgery on his throwing elbow. Diaz's surgery was a procedure to remove loose bodies from his right elbow. The star closer is projected to be sidelined through the All-Star break, at minimum. Tanner Scott, Alex Vesia and Blake Treinen are among the candidates to pick up save chances for Los Angeles for however long Diaz remains out of action.
Out until after All-Star break
Diaz is scheduled for surgery Wednesday to remove loose bodies from his right elbow and will be sidelined until the second half, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports. The injury provides an explanation as to why Diaz's velocity and results have been down early on this season. He was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier Monday and will be a candidate to be shifted to the 60-day IL when/if the Dodgers need a clear a spot on the 40-man roster. Tanner Scott is the favorite to handle the bulk of the save chances for the Dodgers while Diaz is sidelined, but Alex Vesia and/or Blake Treinen could be in the mix, as well.
