Joshua Garcia: Everything you need to know

Garcia (3-0) picked up the win in Tuesday's 9-7 victory over the Marlins, walking one and striking out two over 1.1 scoreless innings. After Miami tied the game at 7-7 in the eighth inning off Andrew Kittredge, Garcia came on to get the final out of the frame and then delivered a perfect ninth after the O's struck for two runs in the top of the ninth. Garcia appears to be the top high-leverage option in the Baltimore bullpen while Ryan Helsley (elbow) is on the shelf, a role he's earned with a 0.56 ERA, 0.38 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB through 16 innings. Over his 17 appearances so far in 2026, Garcia has recorded three wins, seven holds and one save, and he could be poised to boost the latter number over the next couple weeks.

Garcia walked two and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his first career save in a 5-3 win over the White Sox. With Ryan Helsley having pitched Monday and Tuesday, the Orioles closer was given a breather while other members of the bullpen stepped up. After Grant Wolfram handled the seventh and Anthony Nunez the eighth, Garcia got the call in the ninth and managed to get the job done despite throwing only 10 of his 22 pitches for strikes. Garcia is establishing himself as a high-leverage option for manager Craig Albernaz, producing a win, two holds and a save in his first six appearances with a 0.00 ERA, 0.53 WHIP and 7:3 K:BB in 5.2 innings.

Garcia threw a clean ninth inning Friday against the Pirates. Garcia is now up to 3.1 scoreless innings to begin the season, posting a 4:0 K:BB through three appearances. The 32-year-old right-hander helped pick up the pieces in Baltimore's beleaguered bullpen late last year, producing a 2.84 ERA and 20:6 K:BB with nine holds in 19 regular-season frames for the Orioles in 2025, and he's making a case for high-leverage work early on in 2026.
