Tanner Scott: Breaking News

Scott earned a save against the Giants on Thursday, striking out two batters in a perfect ninth inning. Scott had a relatively low-stress assignment, as the Dodgers held a three-run lead when he entered in the ninth inning. The left-hander needed just nine pitches (seven strikes) to set down the side in order. Scott struggled as the Dodgers' closer last season, which led to Los Angeles bringing in Edwin Diaz (elbow) via free agency. Diaz has since landed on the 60-day IL, and Scott has shined since retaking the closer role. Over 10 outings in Diaz's absence, Scott has gone 4-for-4 on save opportunities while giving up just two runs and posting a 10:2 K:BB across 9.2 innings.

Scott struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-1 win over Atlanta. Scott has allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out seven over his last five innings. The Dodgers aren't generating a ton of save chances for him, but he has pitched well enough to maintain his hold on a share of ninth-inning duties while Edwin Diaz (elbow) is out. Scott has pitched to a 1.65 ERA, 0.61 WHIP and 16:2 K:BB across 16.1 innings while adding three saves and four holds. Alex Vesia is also in the mix for saves, but he was utilized to put out a fire in the fifth inning Friday.

Scott picked up the save in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Cardinals, striking out two in a scoreless and hitless ninth inning. Facing the bottom of the St. Louis lineup, Scott set down Jose Fermin, Nathan Church and Pedro Pages in order on 13 pitches. Scott is now 2-for-2 in save opportunities since Edwin Diaz underwent elbow surgery, knocking him out for multiple months. On the season, Scott has a 1.88 ERA and 15:2 K:BB across 14.1 innings. The left-hander is in the 100th percentile in chase rate and has cut his walks-per-nine in half from the 2025 regular season.
