Tim Herrin: Breaking News

Herrin allowed no runs in one inning and tallied a strikeout in the 4-2 loss to the Blue Jays on Sunday. Herrin has been used in a mostly low-leverage reliever role in his 10 appearances so far out of the Guardians bullpen as one of the two consistent lefties. The 29-year-old appeared in 75 games in 2024, but that went down to 54 in 2025 while his ERA shot up to 4.85 from 1.92 and his WHIP to 1.57 from 0.92. Walks are still a problem in the small sample size that Herrin has shown this season, throwing four in 6.2 innings after compiling a difficult 6.3 BB/9 last season.

The Guardians recalled Herrin from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday. The addition of Herrin gives Cleveland a third left-handed option in the bullpen along with Erik Sabrowski and Kolby Allard. Over 39 appearances with the big club this season, Herrin owns a 4.06 ERA and 1.55 WHIP and has collected four wins and 11 holds in 31 innings.

The Guardians optioned Herrin to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday. The 28-year-old southpaw will head back to the minors after less than a week with the Guardians to make room for Carlos Hernandez, who was claimed off waivers from Detroit on Thursday. Herrin carries a 4.06 ERA and 1.55 WHIP through 31 innings with Cleveland this season and could very well rejoin the big-league squad later this summer if/when the Guardians need bullpen help.
