On Sunday, Darrell Ward, star of the hit History Channel series, Ice Road Truckers, was killed in a plane crash in Montana. Ward was on his way to Missoula to begin filming a documentary series about plane wreck recoveries. His co-pilot, 56-year-old Mark Melotz, was also killed in the crash. Darrell recently finished Season 10 of Ice Road Truckers, and was set to appear on the next season of the show.
He is survived by his mother and father, siblings who also live in Montana, his daughter, Terra, two grandkids, and his son Reno.
1.She Wrote a Note In Memory of Her Father

After Darrell’s death, Terra wrote a note on her father’s Facebook page which read:
Hey everyone this is Terra Ward Darrell’s Daughter and I know most of you know my dad as the Montana Legend as he is just that! But he’s been the Montana Legend to me my whole life my everything Ice Road Truckers has been on for 5 year but he’s been my dad for 21 and I cherished him! I looked up to him he was my rock I called him everyday he taught me everything I know! My Daddy was the best man ever hands down… NO ONE can say they miss him as much as me and my brother hurt for him today! I love everyone’s support and I love you all so much you made my dad into he was and is! But he’s a Son and Dad and a Grandpa he’s my world!! And I love and miss him so much I can’t even begin to explain it all! All the emotions all the hate I have for this cruel world he wasn’t done yet I know he wasn’t he had so many plans so many great ideas! My dad would stop whatever he was doing to answer my phone call in a meeting at the truck show! No one knows that part of him he loved his grand babies baught them everything they could ever want no Holiday No Birthday nothing will ever be the same with out his smart mouth there!! And I’m dying over here dreaming of a hug from him a you’re going to be alright Pumpkin!
2. She Lives in Kansas and Is 21-Years-Old

According to Terra’s Facebook page, she is a stay-at-home parent who previously worked at Cobblestone Inn & Suites of Anthony, KS. She now lives in Anthony, Kansas, though she is originally from Deer Lodge, Montana.
Terra’s brother, Reno, recently spoke to Fox Montana, who asked him to describe his courageous father. “Loud and proud I’d say. If you watched the show I think it pretty much described his character. If he was going to do it, he may not know anything about what he was going to do, but he’s going to give it 100 percent and let everyone know what he’s doing when he’s doing it.”
Since hearing the news, Reno has said he’s at a loss for words and doesn’t think the reality of his father’s death has sunk in. “I’ve been emotional at times, had some highs and lows but most of the time I’ve been in disbelief I think.”
3. She’s Engaged

According to her Facebook page, Terra is engaged to a man named Jarrett Brooks. Brooks is originally from Colorado Springs, and is self-employed. A number of his Facebook pictures feature Terra.
On Tuesday, Fox news spoke to Darrell’s best friend, Chuck Campbell, about the fan-favorite trucker’s passing. “The guy that I knew and my family knew would give you the shirt off his back. And would do anything for anyone of his friends or the people he worked with or the people who were lucky enough to call him a friend.”
4. She’s Been Posting On Social Media About Her Father’s Death

Since Darrell’s passing, Terra has written a number of posts about her father on her Facebook page. A recent post reads, “No one will ever take you from me no matter how hard the world tries dad nothing can even be put into words how much I love you how much it hurts me to know I can’t talk to you everyday! I’ve called your phone soo many times tonight! I’ve never needed you more in my life then right now a hug an it’s alright because I am the most lost I have ever been!”
5. She Has Two Daughters

Terra is the mother of two young girls. In June, she posted a photo of her and Brooks’ daughter, to which he replied, “That’s a beautiful little girl we made!!!!!”
On Father’s Day, the 21-year-old took to Facebook to express her appreciation for her father. One portion of the post reads, “In Honor of Father’s Day, I would love to see how many of you change your profile picture to a picture of your dad
