Carson Ragsdale: Everything you need to know

Atlanta non-tendered Ragsdale on Friday. Ragsdale started the 2025 season as a member of San Francisco's organization before spending time with Baltimore and Atlanta. Across three teams in Triple-A, he went 7-8 across 19 starts (and 26 games) and posted a 5.22 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 77:48 K:BB across 89.2 innings. Ragsdale will look to join a team in need of right-handed depth on the pitching staff, and while he's spent most of his time in the minors as a starter, he would likely be utilized out of the bullpen in the majors.

Atlanta claimed Ragsdale off waivers from Baltimore on Thursday. Ragsdale was DFA'd by the Orioles last Thursday after making two appearances with the O's, during which he gave up eight earned runs in only five innings. His fortunes were a bit better in Triple-A, as he finished the season with a 4.87 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 88.2 frames. He'll have a chance to win a spot in Atlanta's Opening Day bullpen during spring training, but he's more likely to begin 2026 at Triple-A Gwinnett.

Ragsdale was designated for assignment Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Ragsdale made his big-league debut in September and gave up eight earned runs in five innings across two appearances with the Orioles. He's likely to stick in the organization as depth for the 2026 season.
