Meyers (oblique) is slated to begin a rehab assignment this week, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. It's not clear when or where exactly his rehab assignment will get kicked off, but it will be Meyers' first game action in more than a month, as he's been shelved by a Grade 2 right oblique strain. The Astros have been using Brice Matthews and Zach Cole in center field lately, but Meyers could reclaim his spot at the top of the depth chart once he's deemed ready for activation.

Jacob Meyers: Breaking News
Resumes swinging bat
Brian McTaggart of MLB.comMeyers (oblique) has started swinging a bat and reincorporating other baseball activities, mmm reports. Meyers had been shut down after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 right oblique strain over three weeks ago. He will eventually need a rehab assignment once he gets sufficiently ramped up and should be able to return before the end of May if all goes well.
Diagnosed with Grade 2 strain
The Astros placed Meyers on the 10-day injured list Friday with a Grade 2 right oblique strain, retroactive to Thursday. Meyers was pulled from Wednesday's contest with lower-back tightness, and imaging later revealed the outfielder had suffered a significant strain. The Astros haven't yet provided a timeline for his return, but he will almost certainly miss more than the 10-day minimum. Taylor Trammell was selected from Triple-A Sugar Land to replenish Houston's outfield depth, and Joey Loperfido and Brice Matthews are candidates to receive more starts in center field while Meyers is sidelined.
