Jordan Weems: Everything you need to know

Weems agreed to a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Monday, which includes an invitation to spring training, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports. Weems spent the majority of his time a season ago with Triple-A Sugar Land, though he briefly appeared in the big leagues, where he was rocked for seven runs in 4.1 innings of work. He'll compete for a spot in LA's bullpen after putting pen to paper on a minor-league deal Monday.

The Astros outrighted Weems to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday. Weems elected free agency after being outrighted by the Astros last month before re-signing on a minor-league contract. It's possible he'll go that route again, although it's unclear what the relievers plan is. He's been hammered for seven runs with a 0:3 K:BB over 4.1 innings during his brief time in the majors this season.

The Astros designated Weems for assignment Monday. Weems will lose his spot on the 40-man roster after he coughed up five runs while retiring only one batter in his relief appearance during Sunday's 12-0 loss to the Orioles. Houston selected the contract of right-hander Tayler Scott from Triple-A Sugar Land to replace Weems in the bullpen.
