The Astros placed Allen on the 10-day injured list Monday with a left hamstring strain, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Allen had to be removed from Sunday's game against the Athletics after tweaking his hamstring while running out a grounder, and an MRI revealed a strain. It's unclear how severe the strain is, but even a mild one has the potential to keep Allen out beyond the minimum 10 days.

Nursing hamstring injury
Allen was removed from Sunday's game against the Athletics due to left hamstring discomfort. Allen injured his hamstring while running to first base on a single in the third inning, with Taylor Trammell entering the game as a pinch runner. The Astros should have a better sense of the severity of Allen's injury once he undergoes more tests.
Exits Sunday's game
Allen was removed from Sunday's game against the Athletics due to an apparent leg injury, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Allen appeared to sustain the injury while running to first base on a single in the bottom of the third inning. He left the game with a trainer, and the Astros should have an update on Allen's status once he undergoes more tests. Taylor Trammell replaced Allen as a pinch runner, and the former will stay in the game in left field after Brice Matthews was moved to second base.
