Peter Lambert: Breaking News

Lambert (6-4) earned the win against the Tigers on Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and no walks with five strikeouts over seven innings. Lambert cruised through six frames before allowing a solo homer in the seventh, throwing 60 of 89 pitches for strikes while limiting the Tigers to just four hard-hit balls. The 29-year-old has now recorded back-to-back quality starts and has yielded only four earned runs across three outings in June. He'll take a 3.23 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 58:25 K:BB over 64 innings this season into a road matchup against the Blue Jays next week.

Lambert (hand) is listed as Houston's probable starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against Detroit, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. The right-hander departed his previous start after getting hit in the hand by a comebacker, but it appears the injury won't cost him a turn through the rotation. Lambert has a 3-0 record with a 3.32 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 18:11 K:BB in 21.2 innings across his past four starts.

Lambert was removed from his start against the Angels on Wednesday after getting hit on the hand by a comebacker, source reports. Nick Madrigal hit a groundball in the seventh inning that bounced up and struck Lambert's right hand, leading to the latter's removal. The 29-year-old righty said after the game that he feels fine, per Brian McTaggart of MLB.com, but the Astros will likely monitor his health leading up to his next start, which is lined up to come next week against Detroit.
