The Rockies optioned Halvorsen to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday. Halvorsen was with the big club for a few days while Jimmy Herget was on paternity leave, making a couple scoreless appearances. With Herget returned to the active roster, Halvorsen is headed back to the minors.
The Rockies recalled Halvorsen from Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday. Halvorsen wasn't able to win a spot on the Opening Day roster but will get a look now after yielded just two runs with a 12:5 K:BB in his first 10 innings at Albuquerque. His stay could be a short one, as Halvorsen is a good bet to be sent back down when Jimmy Herget returns from paternity leave.

Halvorsen entered spring training as a candidate for high-leverage work but pitched his way into a stint in the minors by yielding 12 runs with an ugly 4:12 K:BB over five innings of work. The hard thrower will try to get back on track at Albuquerque and could still have an important role in the Colorado bullpen down the line.
