Trevor Rogers: Everything you need to know

Rogers (3-7) took the loss Sunday against the Padres, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out four. Although he's still struggling for strikeouts, Rogers is certainly finding a rhythm on the mound recently. The 28-year-old southpaw has recorded fewer than five punchouts in eight consecutive starts, but he does have a 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB over 17.1 innings covering three outings in June thus far. Rogers will try to further improve on his 5.86 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 48:22 K:BB over 66 frames going forward, but he'll have his work cut out with a road outing against the Dodgers on tap for his next appearance.

Rogers didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Mariners, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out three. The southpaw pounded the strike zone and got lifted after 97 pitches (71 strikes) with two on and two outs in the sixth inning, coming up just short of his fourth quality start of the season and his first since April 7. It's been a tough year so far for Rogers, but June has begun in encouraging fashion as he's allowed four runs in 11.1 innings over two starts (3.18 ERA) with a 6:2 K:BB. He'll look to build on those efforts in his next outing, which is set to come at home this weekend against a Padres squad that sits dead last in the majors in wOBA versus left-handed pitching.

Rogers (3-6) earned the win Thursday over the Red Sox, allowing a run on five hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out three. The Orioles provided Rogers with more than enough run support Thursday, scoring six runs before the southpaw took the mound in the first inning. Rogers certainly did his part as well, blanking the Red Sox over five innings before allowing a lone run on a Willson Contreras two-out single in the sixth. It's certainly an encouraging effort from Rogers, who hadn't held opponents to fewer than four runs in any of his previous four starts -- he struggled to a 10.44 ERA across 25 frames in his previous six outings. Rogers will carry a 6.29 ERA with a 1.51 WHIP and 41:19 K:BB into his next start, tentatively scheduled to come next week at home against the Mariners.
