Sion James: Breaking News

James amassed six points (2-5 FG, 2-5 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists across 18 minutes during Friday's 121-90 Play-In Game loss to the Magic. The rookie second-rounder was a key contributor for the Hornets for the first half of the 2025-26 regular season, and he started in 11 of Charlotte's 13 games from Oct. 30 to Nov. 23. He saw his playing time dip slightly in the new year, and in the 27 regular-season games since the All-Star break (one start), James averaged 4.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.1 threes and 0.8 steals over 19.4 minutes per contest. He figures to serve in a bench role for the 2026-27 season unless a path to more playing time opens up for the Duke product.

James ended with 13 points (4-9 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one steal in 23 minutes during Friday's 129-108 win over the Pacers. James caught fire from downtown during Friday's comfortable victory and managed to score in double figures for just the second time since March 10 with the help of four made treys. He also led the Charlotte bench in scoring. James has seen more consistent usage lately after averaging 17.9 minutes through his first 13 outings of March, as he's logged 22.5 minutes per game over his last four appearances.

James closed Thursday's 114-103 win over New York with zero points (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt), one rebound, one assist and one steal across 14 minutes. James continues to be used sparingly by the Hornets at the edge of the rotation. Over his last six games, he's averaging 18.5 minutes per contest with 4.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 three-pointers.
