Wright caught both of his targets for 13 yards in Monday's 42-29 win over the Seattle. Wright saw his production decrease in Week 4 with Sam LaPorta taking on his full complement of offensive snaps again. Wright is the clear No. 2 option at tight end and his fantasy upside is greatly limited when LaPorta is active. Over the first four games of the season, Wright has caught seven of eight targets for 49 yards.

Brock Wright Latest News
Two catches during MNF
Wright caught both of his targets for 13 yards in Monday's 42-29 win over the Seattle. Wright saw his production decrease in Week 4 with Sam LaPorta taking on his full complement of offensive snaps again. Wright is the clear No. 2 option at tight end and his fantasy upside is greatly limited when LaPorta is active. Over the first four games of the season, Wright has caught seven of eight targets for 49 yards.
Four catches in win
Wright caught four of five targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Cardinals. Wright had a rather productive day for his standards, matching his career-high four catches versus Arizona. With Sam LaPorta (ankle) suffering a sprained ankle in the contest, Wright picked up some of the slack at tight end. If LaPorta is forced to miss time moving forward, Wright would become fantasy-relevant in his absence.
Secures one catch in victory
Wright caught his only target for two yards in Sunday's 26-20 overtime win over the Rams. Wright played 30 of the team's 61 offensive snaps, operating as the team's primary blocking tight end. His one catch came in the second quarter, and Sam LaPorta garnered all the other targets for Detroit tight ends. Wright's value is much higher to the Lions than it is to fantasy managers.
Retained by Detroit
The Lions matched the three-year, $12 million offer sheet extended to Wright by the 49ers on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Wright signed an offer sheet that reportedly included $6 million guaranteed as a restricted free agent with San Francisco, but Detroit has opted to match it and retain the tight end, who plays a key role as a blocker in the run game. The 49ers will now have to look elsewhere for an additional backup to George Kittle, while Wright gets an improved contract and the opportunity to remain in a scheme he's already succeeded in. Across 14 regular-season appearances in 2023, Wright piled up 13 receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown.
Could back up Kittle
The offer sheet Wright signed with the 49ers as a restricted free agent Friday is reportedly for three years and $12 million, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. Per Birkett, the Lions have five days to match the offer and since Wright was an undrafted free agent, they wouldn't receive draft pick compensation if he departs. If the 25-year-old ends up with the 49ers, he'd be in line to help fill the blocking tight end void behind starter George Kittle created by the free-agent departure of Charlie Woerner.
Signs offer sheet with San Fran
Wright (forearm) signed an offer sheet with the 49ers on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The Lions extended a one-year, $2.98 million contract tender to Wright ahead of free agency and now have five days to match the 49ers' offer. If not, Wright's deal with San Francisco becomes official. Wright broke his left forearm during Detroit's postseason win over Tampa Bay and finished the 2023 regular season with 13 receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown across 14 appearances.
In line for contract tender
The Lions are slated to extend a contract tender to Wright (forearm) ahead of NFL free agency, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. The report notes that by offering Wright (as a restricted free agent) a right of first refusal tender of $2.985 million, the Lions will retain the right to match any contract the tight end signs. Wright, who is bouncing back from a broken left forearm that he sustained in the postseason, is coming off a 2023 season in which he caught 13 passes for 91 yards and a TD in 14 regular-season games while working behind outstanding rookie Sam LaPorta.
