Clears waivers

Atlanta outrighted Wisely to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday, Lindsay Crosby of BravesToday.com reports. Wisely no longer possesses a spot on Atlanta's 40-man roster, but he'll stick around in the organization as utility depth after clearing waivers. He appeared in 26 games in the majors last season between stops with San Francisco and Atlanta, slashing .185/.279/.315 with one home run and one stolen base across 63 plate appearances.

Jettisoned from 40-man roster

Atlanta designated Wisely for assignment Wednesday. Wisely bounced around to multiple organizations this offseason and was ultimately unable to capture a spot on Atlanta's Opening Day roster. The utility player's versatility could pique the interest of clubs via waivers.

Shipped to Atlanta

The Rays traded Wisely to Atlanta on Tuesday in exchange for cash. The 26-year-old infielder was DFA'd by Tampa Bay on Friday after the team acquired Victor Mesa in a trade with Miami. Wisely will now recapture a 40-man spot upon moving to Atlanta, but he is out of minor-league options and will have to break spring training with the big-league club to hold onto his roster spot. Joe Jimenez (knee) was placed on the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.
