Carter Kieboom: Everything you need to know

The Guardians traded Kieboom to the Phillies on Saturday in exchange for cash considerations, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Kieboom inked a minor-league deal with the Guardians in mid-January and appeared 16 Cactus League games for Cleveland, posting a .160/.192/.320 slash line with one home run and five RBI in 26 plate appearances. Per Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Kierboom will report to Philadelphia's minor-league camp and likely open the season in Triple-A but could see some major-league action if the Phillies need additional depth at first base.

The Guardians signed Kieboom to a minor-league contract Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training. Kieboom went 2-for-8 during a brief stint with the Angels in 2025 but spent most of the year at Triple-A Salt Lake, where he slashed .319/.368/.449 with nine homers in 93 contests. The 28-year-old will compete for a reserve role in Cleveland but is likely ticketed for Triple-A Columbus to begin the season.

Kieboom cleared waivers Wednesday and elected free agency. Kieboom spent the vast majority of 2025 with the Angels' Triple-A affiliate, slashing .319/.368/.449 with nine homers, 57 RBI, 48 runs scored and 11 stolen bases through 93 games. The 28-year-old will now enter the offseason with the freedom to sign with whichever team he chooses, though he will almost certainly have to settle for a minor-league contract.
