Davis Schneider: Everything you need to know

Schneider is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox. Schneider had been included in the lineup in each of the last four games, going 0-for-9 with four walks during that stretch. Three of those starts came against left-handed pitching, and Schneider appears likely to be mostly limited to a short-side platoon role moving forward with the Blue Jays getting George Springer (toe) back from the injured list for Wednesday's series finale.

Schneider went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored during the Blue Jays' 10-4 win over the Twins on Friday. Schneider contributed to Toronto's five-run fourth inning with an RBI double, and he expanded the Blue Jays lead in the seventh with a single to left field that brought Vladimir Guerrero home. Schneider has served in a utility role to open the season, and while the infield is fairly solidified, more strong games like Friday's could lead to more playing time in the outfield, especially for as long as Addison Barger (ankles) is on the IL.

Schneider went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Rockies. Schneider has gone 2-for-5 so far in the series, but he's done damage every time he's recorded a hit with a home run and three total RBI. Schneider's playing time has been sporadic so far and only has seven at-bats across three games to open the season, and that inconsistent role limits his upside in most formats as a bench option in a deep Toronto roster.
