The Guardians announced Wednesday that Arias has been diagnosed with a moderate left hamstring strain and is expected to be out for 4-to-8 weeks, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. As expected, Arias will be on the injured list for well beyond the minimum 10 days after suffering the injury during Monday's 4-2 loss to the Royals. While Arias is on the shelf through at least early-to-mid May, Brayan Rocchio is expected to serve as Cleveland's full-time shortstop, while Daniel Schneemann and Juan Brito could form a platoon at second base.

Gabriel Arias: Breaking News
Shelved with strained hamstring
The Guardians placed Arias on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left hamstring strain, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports. Arias suffered the injury during Monday's game versus the Royals while legging out a double. It's considered a moderate strain, so Arias will need more than a minimum 10-day absence. Brayan Rocchio will likely shift over from second base to be the Guardians everyday shortstop while Arias is sidelined. Second base should be manned primarily by Daniel Schneemann against righties, though Juan Brito has been recalled and is starting at the keystone Tuesday versus a lefty.
Headed for MRI
Arias (hamstring) will undergo an MRI on Tuesday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Arias pulled up gingerly in the fifth inning Monday on his way to a double and was removed from the game. He's unlikely to play in Tuesday's game, which was moved up from a scheduled 6:10 pm start to 1:10 pm due to frigid nighttime weather forecasted for Cleveland. Following Monday's exit, Daniel Schneemann pinch ran for Arias, while Brayan Rocchio replaced him at shortstop.
