By extending Brown, the Panthers retain a major piece in the middle of their defense for the next several years, which represents a key move for the unit, which no longer includes Brian Burns, who was traded to the Giants last month.

Davis agreed to terms on a contract with the Panthers on Friday. Davis will re-sign with Carolina, where he contributed as a key special-teams player across eight games last season. He also suited up for eight contests with the Falcons in 2023, taking all but one of his snaps on special teams.
Blackshear signed his contract tender with the Panthers on Thursday, Anthony Rizzuti of USA Today reports. Blackshear is officially sticking with Carolina on a one-year deal, after having begun the offseason as an exclusive rights free agent. The running back has mostly contributed on special teams and as a kick returner for the Panthers, but he figures to also help as a depth player behind Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders in 2024.
Clowney has agreed to terms with the Panthers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Per Rapoport, Clowney's deal with Carolina is for two years and $20 million, with a maximum value of $24 million. During his lone campaign with the Ravens, Clowney finished the 2023 regular season with 43 tackles and 9.5 sacks over the course 17 games. By adding the top pick in the 2014 NFL Draft to the defensive mix, the Panthers will bolster a pass rushing unit that's looking to make up for the recent trade of Brian Burns to the Giants.
The Panthers re-signed Franklin to a one-year contract Wednesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. Franklin suited up for all 17 regular-season games with Carolina last season, finishing with 30 tackles (20 solo) and three passes defended, including an interception which he returned for a 99-yard touchdown against the Vikings in Week 4. He also played 310 snaps on special teams.
The Panthers signed Scott on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The veteran safety spent last season with Cincinnati after playing the first four years of his career with the Rams, and he's now headed to Carolina. During the Bengals' 2023 campaign, Scott tallied 57 total tackles, including one tackle for loss, across 17 outings. Carolina has now added two safeties in Scott and Jordan Fuller this offseason, and the former is expected to compete for a depth role in the Panthers' secondary.
Strnad has agreed to a one-year deal with the Panthers, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports. Strnad spent his first three seasons in Denver, but he will now get a fresh start with Carolina in 2024. He has suited up for every game of this three-year career, but he was primarily just a special teams contributor the past two seasons. The 27-year-old will now work to make an impression with his new team during offseason activities.
Mike Kaye of The Charlotte ObserverMoore has signed a one-year contract with the Panthers, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports. Moore is returning to Carolina, where he spent the 2021 offseason before getting released following final roster cuts and landing with the Broncos' practice squad. Most recently, he played for the Buccaneers during the 2023 campaign, and accumulated 94 yards and one touchdown on five receptions across seven games. The 29-year-old will now look to make an impression with the team during offseason activities leading into training camp.
