Scott picked up the save Thursday against the Giants, throwing a clean ninth inning. With Edwin Diaz out for multiple months due to elbow surgery, Scott nailed down his first save of the season Thursday. The expectation is that both Scott and Alex Vesia, the latter of whom has yet to give up an earned run while notching two saves through 8.2 frames, will share save opportunities for the Dodgers while Diaz is on the mend, making both players worthy of roster consideration in all fantasy formats. Scott has been superb so far in his own right, posting a 0.84 ERA, 0.56 WHIP and 9:1 K:BB across 10.2 innings.

Tanner Scott: Breaking News
In mix for saves with Diaz out
Scott will be part of a closer committee for the Dodgers while Edwin Diaz (elbow) is sidelined, Katie Woo and Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic report. Scott struggled in the first year of a four-year, $72 million contract in 2025, but he's been excellent so far in the second season of the deal while yielding just one run and posting an 8:0 K:BB in 8.2 frames. Alex Vesia has also pitched well and notched two saves last week while Diaz was unavailable. Scott, Vesia and Blake Treinen could all get opportunities to close games, at least until one of them emerges as Roberts' preferred option.
Excelling in setup role
Scott earned a hold against the Nationals on Sunday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter in a scoreless eighth inning. Scott opened last season as the Dodgers' closer but had a disappointing campaign, posting a 4.74 ERA and blowing 10 of 33 save chances during the regular season. He was eventually moved out of the ninth-inning role and did not pitch during the postseason due to injury. Los Angeles brought in Edwin Diaz to close ahead of the 2026 campaign, and Scott has settled well into a setup role, as he's given up just one run while compiling a 6:0 K:BB through 4.2 frames spanning six appearances. Diaz has also performed well and has a stranglehold on save opportunities as long as he stays healthy, so the expectation is that Scott will remain a setup option throughout the campaign.
