Cristopher Sánchez: Breaking News

Sanchez (8-3) allowed four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out three over 5.2 innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Brewers. Sanchez gave up a solo home run to Jackson Chourio in the first inning and a three-run blast to Blake Perkins in the fourth. Sanchez had gone at least seven innings in each of his previous seven starts, and he allowed a total of one homer in that span. Given how well he's performed this season, this is likely to be just a blip on the radar. The southpaw has a 1.82 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 116:19 K:BB over 99 innings through 15 starts on the year. Sanchez will look to bounce back at home versus the Mets in his next start.

Sanchez (8-2) earned the win over Toronto on Monday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters over seven innings. Sanchez kept the Blue Jays at bay throughout most of his outing, though Ernie Clement took him deep for a solo shot in the fifth inning. That snapped Sanchez's streak of seven straight starts with no homers allowed, but despite that hiccup Sanchez was once again dominant, racking up 17 swinging strikes and finishing with his fourth double-digit punchout performance of the campaign. Remarkably, the two runs Sanchez surrendered Monday were more than he had given up across his previous six starts combined, which is a testament to the magical season he's putting together. The 29-year-old ranks second among MLB qualified pitchers with a 1.54 ERA and 113 strikeouts over 93.1 innings spanning 14 starts.

Sanchez (7-2) earned the win Wednesday over the Padres, allowing a run on four hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out eight. Sanchez was stellar again Wednesday as he blanked the Padres for six innings before allowing a lone run on a Jackson Merrill two-out single in the seventh, ending his scoreless streak at 50.2 innings, the fifth longest in MLB history. Sanchez's ERA sits at a league-best 1.46 through 13 starts (86.1 innings) this season with a 1.09 WHIP and a superb 103:17 K:BB. The southpaw's next outing is tentatively scheduled to come on the road next week in Toronto.
