Lou Trivino: Breaking News

The Phillies signed Trivino to a minor-league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, per MLB's transaction log. Trevino was DFA'd by the Orioles on Sunday and elected free agency after clearing waivers. He finished the 2025 campaign in Philadelphia and was with the organization until he signed a major-league contract with Baltimore in early May. Trivino has a 2.77 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 13 innings in Triple-A this season.

Trivino cleared waivers Tuesday and elected free agency, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. After signing a major-league deal with the Orioles on May 4, Trivino was cast off the 40-man roster Sunday and will now return to free agency in search of his next opportunity. The 34-year-old righty allowed six earned runs in just three innings during his time in Baltimore, so he'll likely have to settle for a minor-league deal in the open market.

The Orioles designated Trivino for assignment Sunday. Baltimore signed Trivino to a one-year deal Monday, but he's now been booted off the 40-man roster less than a week later after yielding six earned runs on six hits and three walks over three innings across two relief appearances. The 34-year-old righty is likely to clear waivers, though he'll have the option of electing free agency if he doesn't intend to stick around in the Orioles organization as bullpen depth at Triple-A Norfolk.
