Max Lazar: Everything you need to know

Lazar (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Jersey Shore on Thursday. Lazar has been out all season with a left oblique strain he suffered during the World Baseball Classic while playing for Team Israel. He is on the 60-day injured list and not eligible to return until late May, so Lazar will make several rehab appearances before the Phillies consider adding him back to their active roster.

The Phillies transferred Lazar (oblique) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday. Lazar will give up his spot on the 40-man roster to catcher Garrett Stubbs, who was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The righty reliever has been out all season with a left oblique strain and won't be eligible to make his 2026 debut with the Phillies until late May.

Lazar (oblique) is throwing bullpen sessions in Clearwater, Florida, per MLB.com. Lazar stepped away from Team Israel during the World Baseball Classic in March after feeling discomfort in his oblique, and he proceeded to open the season on the 15-day injured list with a strained left oblique. The 26-year-old right-hander is expected to function as bullpen depth for the Phillies in 2026 when healthy.
