The Yankees outrighted Ellis to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday. Ellis appeared in just 11 games between the White Sox and Yankees during the 2024 regular season, going 1-for-5 with five stolen bases over that span. He was included on the Yankees' ALDS roster against the Royals, but he only made one pinch-running appearance during that series.

Ellis is not on the Yankees' roster for the ALCS against the Guardians. Ellis made one pinch-running appearance in the ALDS, but the Yankees have found a better use for his roster spot during the ALCS. Marcus Stroman has been added as a long reliever.
