Benjamin Casparius: Breaking News

Casparius (shoulder) was moved to the 60-day injured list Monday. Casparius has been cleared to start a throwing program, but he's evidently not close to a return yet, which is why the Dodgers bumped him over to the 60-day injured list. This clears up a spot on the 40-man roster for Jonathan Hernandez, who was signed to a deal with LA on Monday.

Casparius (shoulder) has been throwing at the Dodgers' complex in Arizona, per MLB.com. Casparius has been on the IL since April 13 due to right shoulder inflammation. While he's doing some throwing, there's no word on when the right-hander may begin a rehab assignment, so he's unlikely to return to the Dodgers' bullpen in the immediate future. Casparius allowed five earned runs over 4.1 innings spanning five relief appearances this season before being shelved.

The Dodgers placed Casparius on the 15-day injured list Monday with right shoulder inflammation, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Casparius allowed two runs on two hits and two walks Sunday against the Rangers, which was the third straight appearance he had been scored upon. The righty will be eligible to return near the end of April, but it's uncertain at this point whether he'll be ready on that date. Kyle Hurt is taking Casparius' spot on the roster and in the bullpen.
