Jacob Dreyer: Breaking News

Dreyer (1-0) was credited with the win against Washington on Sunday, walking one batter and striking out one in a hitless and scoreless inning of work. Dreyer entered the game in the seventh inning with Los Angeles down three runs. He walked the first batter he faced before retiring the next three Nationals hitters in order. The Dodgers then scored four runs in the top of the eighth to put Dreyer in position for the victory. The left-handed reliever has looked good so far this season, tossing four scoreless innings while registering a 4:2 K:BB through four outings.

Dreyer struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Giants. Tanner Scott had a 23-pitch appearance Friday and was presumably unavailable for Saturday's game. The Dodgers had to dig deep in this game, with Alex Vesia also not pitching and Kirby Yates being deployed in the seventh inning, leading to Dreyer getting a rare chance to close a game out. He's up to four saves this season and has added 10 holds over 64 appearances. He's also pitched to a 2.80 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 72:22 K:BB through 74 innings, and he's allowed just two runs with an 11:1 K:BB over eight innings in September.

Dreyer earned the save in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Orioles, allowing one hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning. The Dodgers came into the day with a depleted bullpen, thus setting up Dreyer for the save chance. The 26-year-old left-hander would preserve a three-run lead, picking up his third save this season, his first since Aug 15. Dreyer's turned in five straight scoreless innings, striking out eight in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at 2.74 with a 1.06 WHIP and 65 strikeouts across 69 innings this season.
