Hernandez signed a contract with the Dodgers on Monday. Hernandez was cut loose by the Phillies on Sunday, but it didn't take long for him to find work elsewhere. He'll provide the Dodgers with a fresh arm out of the bullpen. Hernandez hasn't appeared in the big leagues since the 2024 campaign, when he posted a 5.40 ERA and 1.59 WHIP with a 39:28 K:BB across 43.1 regular-season innings across stops with Texas and Seattle.

Jonathan Hernández: Breaking News
Inks minors deal with Phillies
The Phillies signed Hernandez to a minor-league contract Dec. 15, Steve Potter of PhilliesBaseballFan.com reports. Hernandez made 12 appearances at Triple-A Durham in the Rays organization in 2025, posting a 2.25 ERA and 13:6 K:BB over 12 innings. He missed most of the season with a shoulder injury, but the 29-year-old returned to pitch in September and has made 18 appearances in the Dominican Winter League. Hernandez holds a career 4.29 ERA and 150:81 K:BB across 153 frames covering parts of five major-league seasons.
Dismissed from big-league camp
The Rays reassigned Hernandez to minor-league camp Monday. Hernandez is likely to begin the season at Triple-A Durham after falling short in his bid for a spot in Tampa Bay's Opening Day bullpen. The hard-throwing right-hander previously recorded four saves while filling a high-leverage relief role for Texas during the 2022 season, but control problems kept him from having much success in the majors over the subsequent two seasons.
