Julio Pablo Martinez: Everything you need to know

Martinez cleared waivers Wednesday and was sent outright to Triple-A Gwinnett. Atlanta pushed Martinez off its 40-man roster Monday in order to clear a spot for Eddie Rosario, and he'll officially remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 28-year-old has slashed .241/.332/.357 with 15 RBI across 257 plate appearances with the Stripers.

Atlanta designated Martinez for assignment Monday. Martinez is clearing out to make room on the 40-man roster for outfielder Eddie Rosario, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Gwinnett ahead of Monday's game against Arizona. The 28-year-old Martinez has spent most of the season at Triple-A Gwinnett, where he produced a .695 OPS while stealing 20 bases across 257 plate appearances.

Atlanta is expected to designate Martinez for assignment Monday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports. Atlanta called Martinez up from Triple-A Gwinnett on May 27, but he logged just 10 plate appearances before heading back to the minors June 17. Despite Atlanta having been hit hard by injuries to outfielders, Martinez has been passed over for a call-up over the past few weeks, making it clear the 28-year-old didn't have much of a future in the organization.
