Tayler Scott: Everything you need to know

Scott signed a minor-league deal with Atlanta on Dec. 27 that includes an invitation to big-league spring training, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports. Scott will get the chance to vie for a spot in Atlanta's Opening Day bullpen during spring training, but as a non-roster player, he's more likely to begin the 2026 campaign in the minors. The 33-year-old righty saw action in 25 big-league games in 2025 between stops with the Diamondbacks and Astros, pitching to a 7.90 ERA, 1.90 WHIP and 24:18 K:BB across 27.1 innings.

Matt Kawahara of the Houston ChronicleThe Astros designated Scott for assignment Tuesday, mmm reports. Scott was bludgeoned for five runs over 1.2 innings in his lone appearance after the Tigers had called him up Monday. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for Logan VanWey.

The Astros selected Scott's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday. Scott holds a 6.66 ERA in 25.2 innings at the major-league level between stops with the Astros and Diamondbacks this season, but he'll get another chance with Houston after allowing six runs with an 11:7 K:BB over 11 frames at Sugar Land. The righty will likely be used in low-leverage spots.
