Robinson logged eight total tackles (five solo), including one tackle for loss, in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Chiefs. Robinson's eight tackles Sunday were the most he's posted in a game since Week 1, tying Xavier Woods for the second-most tackles on the Panthers' defense. The veteran defensive lineman has been one of Carolina's most consistent players this season, having recorded four-or-more tackles in all but two games. Robinson has accumulated 53 total tackles, including 3.0 sacks, through 10 appearances this season, and he's expected to continue wreaking havoc on opposing offenses as the Panthers host the Buccaneers in Week 13.
Woods recorded eight total tackles (seven solo), including one tackle for loss, and defended one pass in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Chiefs. The veteran safety tied A'Shawn Robinson for the second-most tackles on the Panthers' defense in Sunday's loss, trailing Josey Jewell's nine-stop performance. Woods is on pace for his best season in Carolina, recording 77 total tackles and four passes defended, including two interceptions, through 11 appearances. Expect the 29-year-old to continue starting alongside Jordan Fuller in the Panthers' secondary, serving as one of the team's defensive leaders.
Jewell recorded nine total tackles (six solo), including 1.0 sacks, in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Chiefs. The Iowa product was one of five Panthers to bring down Patrick Mahomes while also leading the team in total tackles during Sunday's narrow loss. Jewell has really impressed since returning from injury in Week 8, recording 31 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and two passes defended, with one interception, across his last four games. Expect Jewell to continue making plays as the Panthers host the Buccaneers in Week 13.
Coach Dave Canales said Monday that Sanders (neck) avoided a serious injury in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports. Sanders was, in fact, in the Panthers' team building Monday, which is a good sign after he was taken to the hospital for testing following the injury Sunday. The Panthers are still evaluating if Sanders will be able to play next Sunday against the Bucs, but it does sound like the rookie tight end will play again this season.
Thielen recorded three receptions on four targets for 57 yards in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Chiefs. Thielen was active for the first time since Week 3 after recovering from a hamstring injury. He finished fourth on the team in targets but made an immediate impact on the Carolina offense by accounting for the unit's longest play from scrimmage on a 36-yard catch late in the first quarter. Thielen also chipped in a 13-yard reception on fourth down late in the fourth quarter to set up a game-tying touchdown. While the Panthers will be invested in getting targets to Xavier Legette and other younger skill-position players down the stretch, Thielen should have a steady role among the receiver corps.
Hubbard rushed the ball 16 times for 58 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Chiefs. He recorded one reception on five targets for two yards. Hubbard was joined by Jonathon Brooks in the Carolina backfield for the first time this season, though it was hardly noticeable in the box score as he out-touched Brooks 17-2. The Chiefs' run defense has been among the best in the league throughout the campaign, so it's not particularly surprising that Hubbard struggled with his efficiency. However, he still managed a productive fantasy performance thanks to a one-yard plunge into the end zone and a subsequent two-point conversion with under two minutes remaining in the game. Brooks will likely become a bigger factor at some point late in the season, but Hubbard looks to have safe volume for the time being.
Young completed 21 of 35 passes for 263 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Chiefs. He added three rushes for 20 yards. The Panthers came away with only nine first-half points, but Young kept the offense moving in the first two quarters by completing 10 of 18 passes for 177 yards. He managed to break through for a touchdown on a one-yard pass to David Moore midway through the third quarter, and Young also managed four completions of at least 20 yards -- his highest mark in a game this season. The only shortcoming of his performance was a single touchdown pass, but this was almost certainly his best start of the campaign. His position as Carolina's starter in the short-term is also seemingly no longer in question, as coach Dave Canales said that Young will start in Week 13 against Tampa Bay, per David Newton of ESPN.com.
