After spending six years working as a personal trainer and two years in warehousing, Todd Matthews started covering multiple sports as a freelance writer in 2020, with an emphasis on providing fan-driven content that included team-specific coverage, breaking news, analysis, roster developments, player trends, and league-wide storylines in the NHL, NFL, and NASCAR. He joined Heavy as a contributor in 2026.
Todd worked as a staff writer for FanSided between 2024 and 2026, covering its NHL Division with a primary focus on the Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, and St. Louis Blues. He also filled in as the site expert at Octopus Thrower from mid-2025 to 2026. Todd was previously the site expert at Sabre Noise and Raising Zona under his old pen name, Sion Fawkes.
Education
Todd graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in sport management, with a concentration in wellness and fitness.
