Johnson (knee) participated during the first day of padded practice Friday, PJ Green of Fox4 News Kansas City reports. Johnson was recovering from a torn ACL as recently as Wednesday, but he now appears to be back at or near full speed. After the Chiefs lost L'Jarius Sneed during free agency, there could be some competition at camp for boundary reps at corner this season.

Latest Chiefs News
Nazeeh Johnson : Suiting up for practice
Johnson (knee) participated during the first day of padded practice Friday, PJ Green of Fox4 News Kansas City reports. Johnson was recovering from a torn ACL as recently as Wednesday, but he now appears to be back at or near full speed. After the Chiefs lost L'Jarius Sneed during free agency, there could be some competition at camp for boundary reps at corner this season.
Xavier Worthy : Returns to practice
Worthy (illness) returned to practice Friday, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports. It isn't ideal for a rookie to miss spring practices with a hamstring injury and now four days of training camp due to an illness, but he's back on the field Friday and has plenty of time to make an impression before Week 1. Selected 28th overall this spring after running the 40-yard dash in a combine-record 4.21 seconds, Worthy is part of a WR room where Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown are the top veterans. The team also has three early draft picks from prior years -- Kadarius Toney, Mecole Hardman and Skyy Moore -- but at this point they're all viewed as disappointments and likely are competing for backup roles or special-teams snaps more so than top-three spots at wide receiver. Rice and Justin Watson (foot) are the only returning WRs that got a lot of playing time for the Chiefs last season.
Justin Watson : Foot injury downplayed
Watson is expected to miss just a few days of training camp due to a minor foot issue, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports. Per Derrick, at first glace the left foot injury that Watson sustained Wednesday appeared concerning, but tests have reportedly revealed that the wideout avoided a long-term issue. Once Watson is able to return to practice, he'll look to cement his standing in a Kansas City WR corps that also includes Rashee Rice, Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, Kadarius Toney, Mecole Hardman and Skyy Moore. In 16 regular-season outings in 2023, Watson compiled a 27-460-3 receiving line.
Nazeeh Johnson : Dealing with knee injury
Johnson is nursing a right knee injury at training camp with Kansas City, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports. Johnson missed the entirety of the 2023 season while recovering from a torn ACL in his right knee, and it's unclear if he's dealing with an injury related to that or not. Kansas City will begin its preseason action Aug. 10 against the Jaguars, and the cornerback will set his sights on being ready to go for that contest.
Nazeeh Johnson : Getting first-team reps
Johnson (knee) was spotted working with the Chiefs' first-team defense Wednesday, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports. Johnson missed all of Kansas City's 2023 campaign due to a torn ACL, but it now seems as if he's moved past the issue. The 2022 seventh-round pick has played no defensive snaps across his 11 games in the NFL, but with the departure of L'Jarius Sneed this offseason, Johnson could be thrust into the mix as a starting or rotational cornerback for the Chiefs in 2024.
Xavier Worthy : Misses practice again
Worthy (illness) missed a third straight practice Wednesday, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports. Worthy landed in an ideal spot for immediate fantasy value when the Chiefs drafted him 28th overall this April, but he hasn't actually had many chances to catch passes from Patrick Mahomes, first missing most of the offseason program with a hamstring injury and now losing a trio of training camp practices to an illness. Worthy still has plenty of time to earn a top-three role at wide receiver, of course, and the competition doesn't look all that tough beyond Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown. To that end, Justin Watson was carted off the field at Wednesday's practice, leaving Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, Mecole Hardman, Nikko Remigio and Justyn Ross as the leading candidates for first-team WR reps alongside Rice and Brown.
Justin Watson : Injured at practice
Watson (foot) departed Wednesday's practice early due to an apparent injury, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports. Watson was injured while catching a pass, then after meeting with trainers was carted into the locker room, per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com. The severity of his injury remains undisclosed, but any missed time on Watson's part will open up first-team opportunities for receivers lower on Kansas City's depth chart, especially with Xavier Worthy (illness) still missing time. Kadarius Toney, Mecole Hardman, Skyy Moore, Justyn Ross and Nikko Remigio could all notably benefit from more first-team reps.
Kadarius Toney : Getting backfield work
Toney has been seeing reps out of the backfield at running back early in training camp, Blair Kerkhoff of the Kansas City Star reports. Handling carries isn't completely foreign to Toney, as he's rushed 21 times for 119 yards and one touchdown across four NFL seasons. He also rushed 66 times for 580 yards and two scores in four seasons at Florida before entering the league. With the additions of first-rounder Xavier Worthy and free-agent pickup Hollywood Brown in the offseason to go along with Rashee Rice, Mecole Hardman, Justin Watson and Skyy Moore, wideout snaps may be difficult to come by for Toney. Getting him a look at running back could be a way to get Toney on the field a bit more, and it would be a way to get the ball in his hands quicker and closer to the line of scrimmage after he struggled mightily to come up with catches last season. The Chiefs lost Jerick McKinnon over the offseason and didn't do a whole lot to replace his speed and pass-catching ability at running back. The more Toney can do, the better chance he has at cracking Kansas City's roster.
