Kutter Crawford: Everything you need to know

Interim manager Chad Tracy said Tuesday that Crawford (elbow) is dealing with moderate tightness in his right forearm, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. Crawford initially landed on the injured list at the start of the regular season after undergoing wrist surgery last July, but he's now had multiple setbacks with his forearm while ramping up his rehab. The Red Sox will pull back on the intensity of his recovery program following his latest flare-up, and he remains without a firm return timeline.

The Red Sox transferred Crawford (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Friday. The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Tayron Guerrero. Crawford has been out all season, first while he recovered from wrist surgery and then due to forearm soreness that developed in mid-April while on a rehab assignment. It's unclear whether the righty has resumed a throwing program.

Crawford has been diagnosed with inflammation in his right elbow following an MRI, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports. Crawford had to be pulled off his rehab assignment when he developed soreness in his pitching arm during his first rehab outing. He has managed to avoid structural damage, however, and hopes to resume throwing "soon" after a brief shutdown period. Crawford hasn't pitched at the major-league level since 2024 because of injury.
