Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 3-1 victory versus Toronto on Saturday. The score was tied 1-1 when Goldschmidt came to the plate with a runner on base in the top of the ninth. The veteran infielder belted a Louis Varland offspeed pitch over the left-field wall to provide the decisive runs for New York. Goldschmidt extended his hitting streak to six games with the blast, and he's slashing .375/.407/.625 with two homers and eight RBI during that stretch. With Aaron Judge (ribs), Giancarlo Stanton (calf) and Trent Grisham (hamstring) all on the injured list, Goldschmidt's role in New York's offense has taken on extra significance. He's been a regular in the lineup since mid-May and has stepped up with an .889 OPS, nine homers, 31 RBI, 24 runs and a stolen base over 170 plate appearances on the campaign.

Paul Goldschmidt: Breaking News
Slugs homer in victory
Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in a 7-5, extra-inning win over the Guardians on Monday. Goldschmidt gave New York an early lead with his two-run blast to left field in the first inning. The veteran first baseman added an RBI on a fielder's choice in the eighth frame to tie the score 5-5. Goldschmidt has hit safely in 11 of his past 12 contests, batting .314 with three homers, 13 RBI and one stolen base over that span. That run of good form has earned him an everyday role for New York -- Goldschmidt has started 16 straight games, primarily playing first base while Ben Rice logs most of his starts at DH.
Drives in four runs Tuesday
Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 with a two-run double and a two-run home run during the Yankees' 9-4 loss to the Guardians on Tuesday. Goldschmidt was responsible for all four runs that the Yankees scored Tuesday, including a two-run homer off Joey Cantillo in the third inning that gave the Bronx Bombers a 2-1 lead. Goldschmidt has logged two home runs over his last four games and is up to seven on the season, which is tied for fourth-most on the Yankees. He is on a seven-game hitting streak, having gone 11-for-31 (.344) with nine RBI in that span.
