Manaea is expected to work in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Huascar Brazoban in Sunday's game against the Padres, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. Though he's continuing to pitch out of the bullpen, Manaea will be making his second straight turn as the fifth member of the New York rotation after recently replacing David Peterson in that role. While working behind opener Austin Warren in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Mariners, Manaea covered a season-high five innings and struck out four batters while limiting Seattle to one earned run on one hit and one walk. The veteran southpaw has looked sharp overall in his last five appearances, compiling a 2.70 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB over 16.2 innings.

Sean Manaea: Breaking News
Effective across five frames
Manaea allowed one run on a hit and a walk while striking out four over five innings of bulk relief Monday against the Mariners. Entering after an inning from Austin Warren, Manaea was stellar in stifling the Mariners offense, with a solo homer by Colt Emerson in the third inning accounting for the only damage. Monday marked Manaea's first turn through the rotation, albeit behind an opener, and it went quite well considering he entered the contest with a 5.56 ERA and 1.62 WHIP across 34 innings. The southpaw is tentatively scheduled to take the ball Sunday against the Padres, though it remains to be seen whether he starts outright or works behind an opener once again.
Moving into rotation/bulk relief
Manaea is taking David Peterson's spot as a starting pitcher/bulk reliever for the Mets, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Peterson will move to the bullpen. Manaea has struggled for much of the season but has been better in May, posting a 3.75 ERA and 15:5 K:BB over 12 innings. His first opportunity either as a traditional starting pitcher or bulk reliever following an opener could come as soon as Monday on the road in Seattle.
