Landry Shamet: Breaking News

Shamet totaled five points (2-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt) and one rebound in 15 minutes during Thursday's 140-89 victory over Atlanta in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Shamet played double-digit minutes for just the second time in the series, as New York easily accounted for a woeful Atlanta performance, advancing to the second round of the playoffs. Shamet has been mostly a non-factor throughout the playoffs, averaging just 1.8 points in 8.7 minutes through six games of the first round.

Shamet (knee) participated in Friday's practice, per Steve Popper of Newsday. While Shamet sat out Sunday's regular-season finale against the Hornets due to right knee injury management, it looks like he's all set to be available for the Knicks in Game 1 on Saturday versus Atlanta. The veteran sharpshooter closed out the 2025-26 campaign with averages of 9.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2.0 three-pointers in 23.0 minutes per tilt across 51 games, shooting 39.2 percent from deep.

Shamet has been ruled out for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Hornets due to right knee injury management. Shamet was in line for an expanded role Sunday due to the Knicks resting most of their key starters. Instead, the veteran wing will be sidelined to manage a lingering knee injury, but he should be available for the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Shamet will end the 2025-26 regular season averaging 9.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2.0 threes over 23.0 minutes while connecting on 39.2 percent of his three-point attempts (on 5.2 3PA/G). Jeremy Sochan, Jordan Clarkson and Miles McBride are candidates to see an uptick in playing time due to Shamet's absence.
