JP Richardson: Everything you need to know

Chicago signed Richardson to a reserve/future contract Tuesday. Richardson signed with the Bears in April as an undrafted free agent and opted to stay in Chicago on the practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster following the conclusion of training camp. His lone elevation to the active roster came in Week 17 against the 49ers, though he didn't end up seeing the field. Richardson will have the opportunity to participate in OTAs and minicamp during the offseason as a member of the Bears' 90-man roster.

Richardson reverted to the 49ers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Richardson was elevated to the 49ers' active roster Saturday for the first time this season, but he was a healthy inactive for Sunday's win over the Bears. He's eligible to be elevated for Week 18 against the Seahawks, though that's unlikely to happen unless the 49ers are dealing with injuries to their wide receiver corps.

The Bears have elevated Richardson from the practice squad Saturday, ahead of Sunday night's matchup against San Francisco. Richardson looks set to make his regular-season debut as a depth option at wideout for Chicago in Week 17. The undrafted rookie out of TCU flashed for the Bears during training camp and the preseason.
